Belle and the Modern-Day Beast

When salvation pops up, we don't know. Keep holding on to the ropes of goodness. Then you will come out of any challenge.

The name I gave this article is Bell and the Modern-Day Beast, and there was a Hallmark movie on YouTube, Belle and the Beast, which I was watching a while ago after midnight in my bed, because I wasn’t tired enough to fall asleep, perhaps I was too wired from the busy day.  I was looking for a light romantic movie that could help me fall asleep.  I decided to watch it that night.

The lead character in the movie is the modern-day “beast”, who lives alone in a beautiful big mansion after his wife had died in a car accident years ago.  Of course, he blames himself for her death.  He cannot get over his grief and that has leads him to excessive drinking.  He has been the antagonist who is rude and feels he is entitled to get exactly what he wants when he wants.  He has a reputation in town of an aggressor that everybody has to do what he wants them to do or else there would be consequences.  He behaves poorly with his house manager, his assistant, who quits her job and any handy man who dares to come to his house.

The “beast” has a deep sapphire alcoholic bottle at his home office.  His new assistant, Belle, asks him one day about it.  He tells her that it is a reminder of his sobriety.  Not to mention that he makes Belle’s life miserable, and she has to work for him in order to save her dad’s job.  Though, at some point in the movie things turn to the better and Belle, with her finesse and inner strength she softens his corners.  Later on, she quits working for him when her dad gets fired from his job because of the “beast”, supposedly, and the emphasis is on ‘supposedly’.  Even though she falls in love with him as he develops deep feelings toward her too, she becomes very upset with him, and doesn’t want to talk with him for a long time.

One day in his rage, he opens the elegant wood and glass casing of the deep sapphire bottle at his office and throws the casing on the floor.  The glass shudders all over his office.  He is very tormented and furious.  He grasps the deep sapphire bottle with his hands and in a storm leaves the house, gets into his car and drives away from his house.

Belle cannot let her feelings toward him subside and settle.  She keeps on thinking about him all the time.  When she finds out that it isn’t him that has caused her dad to get fired, she knows she has to do something.   Her intuition tells her that something is wrong with the “beast”.  She drives to his house to find that he isn’t there.  She is anxious; perhaps something terrible has happened to him.  She gets into her car and drives to the place where his late wife used to take pictures.  She finds him there sitting on an old wood log, where all the ground is covered with snow.  He is holding the full deep sapphire bottle in his hands.  Tears are falling from his eyes in his misery.  Ragingly, he throws away the deep sapphire bottle into the pond.  Then comes the unavoidable kiss and that is the end of the movie.

When salvation pops up, we don’t know.

Keep holding on to the ropes of goodness.

In the movies there is an angel, that special someone who is sent to save the characters from themselves, and any other maleficence.  However, how many times have we been praying that someone or something would save us?  Salvation comes in different shapes or forms.  Once we clear all the walls of negativity, we might be aware of the helping hand.  It doesn’t have to be in a shape of another person.  It can also be a thought, a sign, an image, a phone call, or a message.  Also, there wouldn’t always be that person that would run to our door steps and save us from our own destruction.  At some point in our life we have to pick up our shuddered pieces from the floor, and put them back together.  It can be by looking for a new job, or joining a volunteer group.  It can be anything positive and constructive that will elevate the situation, even just a little bit.  Make a decision to do it, and so shall you.
